You do not call it a telephone pole, Robert informs me. Cincinnati Bell actually rents space on the utility pole for their phone lines. Duke Energy installs the new pole with the new transformer, then cuts the pole down to just above where the telephone lines are attached. The phone company then has to come out and transfer their equipment and lines to the new pole. Then Duke takes down the rest of the pole. They extend lines down the pole to about 6 ft above the ground, then our electrician takes our lines up the pole to that level, then Duke again comes out to connect the lines. Trenches will then be dug to bury the lines underground, then attach to the house. Then we go live with power! Wow, what a process, all of this for our one little house in the woods!
